Spotify: 2018 Wrapped

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Self-reflection as we head into the new year is normal. My version of self-reflection is “How have my music tastes changed from last year?”. Well, friend, one thing hasn’t changed: Nick Cave is my top artist again via his Grinderman project. Additionally, this year, Nick Cave is also my third most listened to artist in Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

That’s right, friend. I’m a Cave-iac™.

My top hits this year have included less funk (Jamiroquai and Prince) and more rock and indie. I listened to less music and more podcasts (damn you, commute). Additionally, I was completely surprised “Wala Cam” by Chance the Rapper was not my #1 song of the year because it was on rotation every day, multiple times a day for several months. I swear. Also, I don’t loathe myself as much as my top song indicates. I do, however, love  Josh Homme.

Finally, I was surprised that MMJ made it as one of my top artists because I feel like I listened to several artists more frequently. But  I ain’t mad ’bout it as MMJ has a perennial seat at my table of taste.

So friend, to celebrate the beginning of the end of 2018, let’s play some Nick Cave:
